Advertising & Support

Last updated: 2026-08-26

Everything in this app is free. Every skill, every tool, the community, the search, the offline copy — all of it, with no paid tier, no subscription and nothing held back behind an account.

Money that comes in through advertising or donations goes to one thing: keeping the infrastructure running and making it faster — servers, storage, bandwidth, and the work of improving the software.

Advertise

The app has two sponsored slots: a carousel at the top of the home screen and a single slot between rows further down. They are marked Sponsored, they are never mixed into the catalogue, and they never look like a skill or a tool.

Creative is in English. The app is read in eight languages and a slot written in one of them would be blank for everyone else, so one English creative is served to every reader.

What we will not do, at any price: dress an advertisement up as content, rank a tool higher because someone paid, track a reader across other apps, or hand a third party an advertising identifier. There is none in this app to hand over.

Donate

If the app is useful to you and you would rather support it directly than see it carry more advertising, that is welcome and it is the option we prefer. A donation buys nothing — no badge, no ranking, no influence over what is listed. It pays for servers.

How ranking works

Published here on purpose, because a ranking nobody can inspect is a ranking you have to take on trust — and because once it is written down we cannot quietly change it when growth stalls.

After you copy a skill the app asks one question: did it work? Three answers — worked, partly, it did not. Only signed-in people can answer, and only answers from the last 90 days count. Skills are ordered by

score = (worked + 0.5 x partly + 4) / (answers + 8)

The +4 and +8 are the point. Without them one person saying yes would score 100% and outrank a skill 45 of 50 people vouch for, which is exactly backwards. With them, one yes scores 0.556, ten-of-ten scores 0.778, and forty-five-of-fifty scores 0.845 — so evidence beats enthusiasm. A skill nobody has judged scores 0.500 and sits in the middle: unknown is not the same as bad.

A skill that people used to report working and have not reported working for 90 days is marked stale and sorts last. A skill nobody has ever judged is not stale — it is simply unjudged, and keeps its place.

Likes are not an input, and neither is money. Within an equal score the editorial order is kept, so the whole unjudged catalogue stays exactly as curated.
