A Screen Recording Somebody Can Follow
Record a window at high zoom on a cleared screen, then zoom, trim and label each step so a demo stays followable on a phone.
What it is for
Prepares and cuts a screen recording so it stays readable at phone size and leaks nothing. Use it before recording a demo or tutorial, not while repairing one. It prevents mushy text, a cursor nobody can follow, and a client's name sitting in a browser tab in a published video.
The skill
A full-desktop recording at full resolution becomes an unreadable smear on a phone. Decide the delivery size first and record for it. Before you press record: - Clear the screen of everything that is not the demo. Bookmarks, tab titles, a notification, another client's name in a window — that is the leak that ends up in a published video. - Use a clean profile or a test account with plausible sample data. Never record a real customer's record. - Raise the app or browser zoom to 125–150% and record a WINDOW, not the whole screen. Recording small and enlarging afterwards is what makes text mushy. - Silence notifications, including the chat app you forgot about. - Record twenty seconds, export it, and watch it on a phone before you record twenty minutes. While recording: - Move the cursor deliberately, then stop moving it. Jittery cursor drift is the single biggest reason a demo is hard to follow. - Leave a beat before each click and after each result appears. Those gaps are where you will cut and where you will zoom. - Say what you are about to do before you do it, so the viewer's eye arrives before the change does. - On a mistake: stop, hold three seconds of silence, and start the sentence again. That silence is the marker you will find in the edit. In the edit: - Zoom into the region that matters for each step instead of showing the whole interface at once. - Cut every spinner longer than a second. Nobody needs your loading time. - Cover anything personal that appeared: emails, names, keys, account numbers, a real order. - Put the step as text on screen at each boundary. People scrub, and text is how they find their place again.
How to install it
1. Open the tool and start a new conversation, project or template. 2. Paste the text below wherever the tool keeps standing instructions — usually called system prompt, instructions, or persona. 3. Save it so it applies to every run rather than a single message.
