Openers That Don't Read as Mail Merge
Feed it something the prospect decided or made, and delete any line you could send to their competitor with the name swapped.
À quoi ça sert En anglais
Automated icebreakers default to restating a job title or praising a homepage, which is precisely the texture of bulk mail. This sets the input rule (a decision they made, not a role they hold), a one-line reject test, and the boundaries that keep a researched opener from reading as surveillance. Use it before any personalized cold campaign goes out.
Le skill
Give it the richest single source you have on this person: something they wrote, shipped, said on a podcast, or a review their customers left. A job title and a company name can only produce a compliment, and compliments are what spam is made of. Then judge every generated line with one test: Could I send this exact sentence to their closest competitor, changing only the name? If yes, delete it. That kills the three lines you will be handed most often: - the restated title: "As Head of Growth at Acme you must be busy scaling." - the empty praise: "Impressive work over at Acme!" - the homepage, summarised back to them in their own marketing words. Keep a line only if it points at a decision they made — a position they argued for, a product they launched, a change they announced, a complaint their reviewers keep repeating. People will talk about their decisions; they will not talk about your admiration. Rules for the line itself: - One sentence. Two is a paragraph about them, and they did not ask for one. - Say where you saw it. "Your November post on onboarding" is checkable, and therefore believable. - Never imply you read something you did not open. Nothing gets exposed faster in a reply. - Nothing from their personal life, family, health, appearance or a photo. Accurate, creepy and reported all begin the same way. Where the source material was thin, do not ship a weaker line — drop the prospect from the send. A generic opener burns that address permanently; not sending costs you nothing.
