A Template That Stops Reading Like One

A Template That Stops Reading Like One

The rewrite pass that strips the last client's fingerprints out of a template and ties the opening to what this buyer actually said.

What it is for

Templates are why a proposal can go out in an hour, and why it can arrive with another client's name in paragraph two. This is the rewrite pass: open on their problem in their words, flip every "what we do" into "what you get", and surface every name typed in by hand that should have been a variable. It ends with a leftovers list — unfilled slots, dead dates, promises nobody agreed to internally.

The skill

Rewrite this proposal so it is about the client in front of me, not about the
template it came out of.

Template text: [paste the section]
Client: [company, what they do]
What they said on the call, in their words: [quote three to five lines]
The problem they are trying to fix: [one sentence]
Why they are talking to us and not their incumbent: [one sentence]

Do this:
1. Rewrite the opening so its first sentence names their problem in the words
they used. Cut any sentence that begins by describing us.
2. Everywhere the template says what we do, say what they get. Same fact,
   other end of the telescope.
3. Any client name, project name, industry or figure typed into the body is a
leak from the last deal. List every one you find so I can replace it with a
variable instead of typing it in again.
4. Delete whole sections that do not apply. Do not neutralise them into vague
paragraphs — a generic section is worse than a missing one.
5. Keep our proof, but only proof that matches their situation: same size,
same industry, or same problem. Drop the rest, however good it is.

Then give me a leftovers list before I send:
- unfilled slots still in the text (square brackets, "Client Name", "TBD")
- claims we cannot evidence
- dates that have already passed
- any promise about timing nobody has agreed to internally

Do not add adjectives. If a sentence still works with its adjectives removed,
remove them.

How to install it

1. Open the tool and start a new conversation, project or template.
2. Paste the text below wherever the tool keeps standing instructions
   — usually called system prompt, instructions, or persona.
3. Save it so it applies to every run rather than a single message.
