Working Hours the Scheduler Can Trust
Declare the hours you actually work and put every unfree hour on the calendar, or the scheduler plans a week that never happens.
What it is for
How to configure Motion's schedules and calendar connections so the auto-scheduler is planning against real availability rather than the hours you wish you had. Use it during setup, and again any time a task keeps sliding from day to day. It prevents the failure where the calendar looks correct and full, nothing on it happens, and you blame the task instead of the working hours underneath it.
The skill
The scheduler only places work inside the hours you declare. If those hours are aspirational, the whole calendar is aspirational. Spend twenty minutes making them true. Set hours you will actually work: - Not the hours you wish you worked. If you never do focused work before 9:30, the schedule starts at 9:30. Tasks placed at 8am get skipped, and a skipped task pushes everything behind it. - End where you actually stop. An 8pm end means the tool will fill 7pm and count on you being there. - Keep a separate schedule for personal commitments and put personal tasks on it. The gym competing with a client deliverable inside one 9-5 is a fight the deliverable wins, right up until it doesn't. Give it the hours that are not really free: - Put recurring meetings, the commute, the school run and lunch on the calendar as real events. The scheduler works around events; it cannot work around an hour you never mentioned. - If mornings are the only time you can think, book yourself there first. Otherwise meetings will take them. - Connect every calendar that can generate a meeting, including the one you rarely open. An unconnected calendar is an invisible double booking. Re-check after anything changes: - New recurring meeting, new project, changed hours: look at the week once afterwards, not a fortnight later. - If the same task keeps moving day after day, the task is not the problem. Something in the schedule is claiming hours you do not have. The failure this prevents: a calendar that looks full and correct, and a Tuesday on which none of it happened, because it was built on hours that were never yours.
How to install it
1. Open the tool and start a new conversation, project or template. 2. Paste the text below wherever the tool keeps standing instructions — usually called system prompt, instructions, or persona. 3. Save it so it applies to every run rather than a single message.
