Drafts Grounded in Your Own Documents

Drafts Grounded in Your Own Documents

A block to paste above the request: make the assistant list what your source actually covers first, then mark every gap instead of filling it with a confident sentence.

What it is for

A prompt block to paste above any request that asks the Gemini assistant in Google Workspace - the product formerly called Duet AI - to draft from material you supply. It makes the assistant declare what it actually found and what the source does not cover before it writes a word, and mark every gap rather than smoothing over it. Use it for status updates, proposals and customer summaries - anywhere a fabricated number would travel outside the company before anyone checked it.

The skill

Paste the block below above your request whenever you ask the Gemini assistant
in Google Workspace - in Docs, Gmail or Slides - to draft something factual
from material you supply: a status update, a proposal, a customer summary.
(This assistant was called Duet AI before Google renamed it; nothing is sold
under the old name now, so work under the current one.)

---
Use only the material I have given you. Do not add facts, numbers, dates,
names, or quotes that are not in it.

Before drafting, give me one short block listing:
- the specific claims in the source that this draft will rest on
- anything I asked for that the source does not cover

Then write the draft, under these rules:
- Every number, date and proper noun must be traceable to the source. If I
need one you cannot find, write [MISSING: what it is] and carry on.
- Do not cover a gap with a general statement. A gap I can see is useful; a
confident sentence hiding one is not.
- Match the register of the source. If the source is a terse internal note,
do not hand me marketing prose.
- Keep the structure I asked for. Do not add an executive summary, a
conclusion, or next steps unless I asked for them.
- Where the source contradicts itself, say so instead of picking a side.
---

Then check it yourself, because the assistant will not: take every number in
the draft and find that same number in your source. If it is not there,
delete the sentence.

The failure this prevents: a draft that reads beautifully, gets forwarded to a
client, and contains a revenue figure nobody in the company recognises.
