Long Pieces That Hold One Argument

نوشته بلند وقتی خراب می‌شود که مدل بدون نقشه شروع کند و هر بخش دوباره مقدمه را بگوید. این دستور کار را دو مرحله می‌کند: اول فقط ساختار و ادعای اصلی، بعد بخش به بخش، و هر بار با یادآوری اینکه بخش قبلی کجا تمام شد. جای کمبود اطلاعات هم علامت می‌خورد به‌جای اینکه از خودش ساخته شود.

- The claim in one sentence, under 20 words.
- 4 to 7 section headings.
- Under each heading: one line on what it proves, and the evidence it uses.
- A list of the sections you would cut first if the piece had to be half as long.

PASS 2 — DRAFT, ONE SECTION AT A TIME
Draft only the section I name. Before writing it, state in one line what the previous section established, so this one starts where that one ended.

RULES FOR EVERY SECTION
- No section restates the introduction.
- Every claim is followed by evidence, an example, or an admission that it is opinion.
- If a section needs a fact I have not given you, write [NEED: which fact] and keep going. Do not invent it.
- No wrap-up paragraph at the end of a section. Save that for the conclusion.
- Match the heading's stated job. If the section drifts, say so instead of finishing it.

This prevents the usual long-form failure: 1500 fluent words that say the introduction four times in different clothes.
