A Standup Update Nobody Has to Decode
Turning task movement into a report about outcomes rather than a list of ticket titles.
What it is for
A standup that lists ticket titles makes the reader do the work. This turns task movement into a report about outcomes and blockers, which is what the person reading it actually needs.
The skill
The default AI standup lists what moved. Nobody needs that — it is visible in
the board. Ask for the three things the board does not show.
Prompt it for exactly this shape:
## Shipped
What a user or a customer can now do that they could not yesterday.
Not ticket titles — outcomes.
## Blocked
Each blocker: what it blocks, who can unblock it, how long it has been
blocked. Anything blocked more than two days goes first.
## Changed course
Anything that moved BACKWARDS in status, or whose estimate changed, and why.
Then set two conventions in the workspace so it has something to read:
- A task moved back to In Progress gets a comment saying why. This is the field
the report above depends on, and it is the one people skip.
- Blockers are a custom field with a person in it, not a text note. A blocker
with no owner is not a blocker, it is a complaint.
The "Changed course" section is the one that earns the report. Everything else
is available at a glance; a silently re-opened task is not.
How to install it
1. Open the tool and start a new conversation, project or template. 2. Paste the text below wherever the tool keeps standing instructions — usually called system prompt, instructions, or persona. 3. Save it so it applies to every run rather than a single message.
